So 9 yr old daughter got into my vinyl. She loves KIX. Wife worried about me taking her to show. We live in dc, but she talked to a colleague who said “be careful” (sigh). I was there last year and thought it was fine. So guess question is …is there anything to worry about taking 9 yr. Old daughter to ramshead? Ramshead and surrounding area? And any tips for the trip? Figure we’d hit aquarium etc during day. Eat in little Italy. Get to ramshead around 7. Uber straight to hotel after show.

Just pay attention to your surroundings and you’ll be fine. My buddies and I are taking 5 kids age 8 through teen to a show there this weekend.

Staying in populated, well lit areas should prevent any problems. Would recommend bringing foamy ear plugs, or some type of noise protection, because it can get loud in that venue.

jumping in on the hearing protection part of this--show her how to put in earplugs properly (roll, insert, wait for them to expand, then press them in to seat them fully!) and if she doesn't like the feeling of foam earplugs, grab a pair of over-ear muffs at a hardware store/home depot/etc!

also if you're at the aquarium, take her to see mr. trash wheel!

Rams Head is in Power Plant which has Security so you should be good. I have lived here nearly my whole life and have never had any problems going to shows downtown. If you are ubering directly to the hotel, even better. Little Italy is also pretty safe.

Rams Head has two levels of balconies, so it may be easiest for you both to stand along a balcony so she can see and you won’t have to worry about the crowds as much as on the floor level.

Hey OP, sounds like you’ve got a consensus already but just to add my anecdote: Yeah I’m never worried walking around there.

I’m not blind, I know there are real issues. I don’t want to be dismissive of real victims of real crimes, but I’ll also say the doom and gloom on TV don’t accurately reflect reality. People are scared of the city, and that’s fine, but it’s exhausting to a lot of us.

I’ve lived here for almost a decade. I’ve regularly walked and biked in neighborhoods across the spectrum, and I’ve never had to dodge bullets. For some reason (Fox 45 running “CITY IN CRISIS” banners 24/7) people outside the city are shocked at my survival though.

Not sure where your hotel is, but try and avoid walking down Baltimore street after the show. That area, while safe, is full of strip clubs & drunk patrons.

You’ll be fine at Ramshead. Parking decks are very close and well lit. This will be a great memory for you both. Enjoy the show!

Just be sure that it's an all ages show. Some are 18 and over due to insurance reasons. KIX is a great band and a lot of fun live. Hope you and the kiddo are able to make a great memory.

If your hotel is in Harbor East, it is a fine walk from Ramshead to the hotel. If your hotel is downtown, take an Uber. Also fine to walk from Little Italy to Ramshead prior to the show. As someone else said, avoid Baltimore Street at all costs. Not because of any danger necessarily, it’s just grimy.

The risk of danger in that area of Baltimore is no more than any public area of DC (outside of the sterilized mall).

Uber to and from and you’re good. You’re probably good either way (of course, depending on where your hotel is), but you’re definitely good if you Uber. Rams Head is deep in a sectioned off area that has security, definitely safe, and Kix is great at Rams Head!

I went to concerts at Ramshead in middle and high school. Loved it. No complaints or scary stories

Be sure it’s an all ages show. We used to take our daughter when she was a young teen. In fact the only issue I have with Rams head is that the owner put cameras in the women’s bathrooms in Annapolis many years ago.

There is parking basically attached to Ramshead. Go in the back of Ramshead building. Yes, you probably have to cut through The Block a little. Avert your eyes. The elevator in the garage puts you into Ramshead. I go to 50 plus concerts a year all over. It is safe in there. Highly recommend Underground Pizza next to Ramshead.

You have to take your daughter to Vaccaro's in Little Italy for their gelato and sweets. Patisserie Poupon is across the street from Ramshead (take the Metro underpass). You'll be in the Inner Harbor area so there's lots of stuff for kids - the Aquarium is great, Visionary Arts Museum... you'll be fine in the harbor area, it's very touristy.

Rams Head which is in PowerPlant Live is very safe in my experience. People bring their kids all the time. I would just say avoid the block behind it (Baltimore Street has a block of strip clubs). Just stay in the inner harbor area.

just throwing this out there, but kix is playing the night beforehand (dec 16) in brunswick md in a firehall. Brunswick isn't much further away from dc than baltimore is and for sure it's got much lower crime etc.. plus it will probably be a much smaller crowd. I think it's pretty cute that your daughter is into western maryland's premiere hair band. I hope you guys have a great time! I don't think ramshead will be a problem though, just thought i'd present an alternative.
