A client just had one replaced for $7800, another company quoted him $8,600. Get at least 3 estimates

yeah, a friend's going through this now and IIRC $8500 was the lower of the two estimates he mentioned. My guess is that his system's gas but it wasn't changing in any case.

8-12k, with a reputable company, again, replace together. Might try financing over 12mo. Usually installers offer 0% over 12mo.

that is a very low quote. I'm surprised they could even buy the hardware for that price 4 years ago, but they probably could not now.

the best course of action is to get 3+ quotes. you will be lucky to get $5k with many people I know paying $12k.

This was like 4 years ago. It covered everything. I think it hvac direct it's probably gone up since then

Yes, but mine is going fine. The row house I bought 20yrs ago had not been lived in since the 1920s. Its first floor was a shop & the upper floors were storage. I put in the duct work my self, and BGE Home put a furnace/AC unit in the Attic. That was in 2005, and cost $5,000. This is only to heat/cool the upper top floors (600 sq ft)

Please go to Perry Hall Heating & Air! Best experience I've ever had with a home installation company. We paid around $5000 (2 years ago) for a new full HVAC system. They were really up front with us that in an older row home we only needed the very base model as anything more expensive would be a waste. Never once felt the pressure for any kind of upsell!

This was in 2017, but I paid ~$10k for a new heat pump and air handler. 18 seer.

In 2021 I paid about $2500 for a new furnace w/ programmable thermostat. Went with https://www.cleanairhvac.com/, they were very good and reasonably priced. Only challenge was it took a while to get the furnace due to the supply chain shortages, but hopefully that's improved.

You should be able to find something between $5-8k for that size. Definitley shop around and get multiple estimates. You'll have larger companies pretending like you're robbing them while they are charging like $12k.

Just replaced our whole system a couple months ago. 2,600 square foot row home and we got a new 2.5 ton, 16 seer system for $8,400. Get several quotes as others have mentioned. We found the big name guys try to rip you off more than the smaller local companies. Good luck!

Supply chain issues are going to jack up the costs. My landlady’s HVAC guy is thinking $9-12k for a 2.5 ton system for our 1200-ish sq ft three level end unit.

heat pump and air handler systems are expensive in the winter regardless of hspf (efficiency) rating. below 40 degrees your going to get most of your heat from the auxiliary electric heating elements in the air handler. (basically a larger version of the heating element in a toaster) anything that glows red hot and uses electricity will draw a lot of amperage. I have 15 years of residential experience a md state masters license and offer competitive pricing . Message me if you would like an estimate
