Hi, due to the Southwest meltdown I am likely flying in tomorrow into DCA even though my car is parked outside of BWI. I am a arriving in mid/late afternoon and worried an uber from DCA to BWI is going to be a 2 hour excursion. Wondering the feasibility of going to Union Station, then taking the MARC train to BWI (I guess there is a stop nearby with a shuttle??). Has anyone done this before? Do you THink I need to book my MARC train ticket ahead of time? Thanks

Download the Charm Pass App to purchase MARC tickets. MARC Penn Line serves BWI station, when you arrive, hop on the bus that circulates between the station and the airport terminal.

That's easy. Just buy the Tix right at Union station. The trains run most frequently in the mornings and evenings. Then there's a shuttle to the terminal and then you can take whatever shuttle to your car.

You can download the CharmPass app and buy a ticket ahead of time. The trains don’t fill up so you don’t select a specific time. Find a train here, keep in mind not all northbound trains stop at BWI.

I’ve done this a couple of times. Very doable. You can now take metro all the way to Dulles which is a nice option if there’s ever a flight worth taking from there

That is nice, except there's no convenient connection between Baltimore and Dulles like there is between DC and Dulles. id have to take MARC to DC and then metro from DC to Dulles

As a former Long Islander that would take the Long Island railroad and then transfer for a subway, it’s not so bad, given the distances involved. Glad it’s an option.

There is. Take the silver to Union or to New Carrollton or College park metro stations and transfer to MARC or Amtrak to Baltimore.

Can avoid a metro transfer by taking blue line to New Carrollton then MARC or Amtrak NE Regional to BWI

The Blue Line does not go to New Carrollton; only the Orange Line. You will still need to get to Union Station. Both the Yellow and Blue lines will allow you to transfer to the Red Line, which will take you to Union Station.

Thanks all, it's great to know this is a reasonable option moving forward.

I’ve done this before. Take a cab or get to union station somehow and trains run regularly. You’ll be fine.
