Guilford Hall has a nice private event space on the second floor

Ha, that’s actually where we’re getting married

That's hilarious. For my rehearsal dinner I reached out to the Annapolis Freemasons chapter and even as a non-member was able to rent out their entire event space for four hours for $25. Then I just got about $300 worth of BBQ from Mission BBQ and set it up on the tables they provided. So if you're fine with doing catering (which was super easy) then I'd reach out to local groups like the Freemasons who may have their own space.

Our space was a bit more but had Mission drop off the food and it worked great.

That’s a good idea. We want to stay within Baltimore, but reaching out to places that have a space we can use is not something I had thought of. Will look into that, thanks!

Awesome, I'm getting married there next year! I highly recommend Sammy's Trattoria in Mt. Vernon. Good food and price with a private space that should fit your party but probably not many more than that

Nice, congrats! Yeah we really like the vibe at Guilford and they’ve been great to work with so far. Just recently ate at the Sammy’s in Hunt Valley for the first time. If the Baltimore location is similar I could see that being a good fit for this. Thanks!

How many people and budget?

6

seanpjohns OP t1_j0v364s wrote

That’s a good question. Don’t know but maybe 30-40 (hopefully less). Mid price?

I would get some of those details before asking around. Some places have rooms to rent but can also do certain meal plans vs just ordering off the menu. You get a bunch chiming in. There are a lot of good restaurants

seanpjohns OP t1_j0v43wx wrote

Good call, thanks. Won’t know the full headcount until a month before the date, but can probably figure out an accurate estimate sooner.

TeachGullible t1_j0vsmd8 wrote

You should really try to get your headcount solidified sooner. Sooner you get a firm headcount and what you want, the sooner you can book. Waiting til the last minute (yes, in wedding speak, a month prior is the last minute) means higher prices/less availability.

Yeah, I agree. I’m hoping we can but it might not be possible for a number of reasons.

We booked the upstairs at blue hill. They had a separate bar up there and pre set menu. Would recommend. It was some years ago tho, not sure if things changed.

I’ve heard of them but have never been. The menu looks good, plus bonus points for having the separate bar. Will check it out, thanks!

Mt. Washington Tavern has an upstairs room. Not a restaurant, but we had our rehearsal dinner at the forest park golf course

Haven’t been to the Tavern in forever. Good idea, thanks!

Where is your venue? Usually good idea to have semi-close to where rehearsal is located

seanpjohns OP t1_j0w7kaz wrote

Guilford Hall. But people are staying in Harbor East, so we’re fine with it being in another neighborhood.

DeathStarJedi t1_j0w90ur wrote

I would HIGHLY recommend Thames St Oyster House. That being said, its gonna be pricey

5

seanpjohns OP t1_j0w9mkd wrote

That would work really well with people staying in harbor east. Thanks!

Cool! That’s another place I’ve been aware of but never made it to. I’ll check it out, thanks!

Hadn’t heard of them but looks really good. Upscale pizza could be the perfect vibe for this. Thank you!

Have you been to Dutch Courage? They offer venue buyouts and it would be a spectacular spot to host your dinner! The menu is always amazing, the staff is great, and the drinks are always so fun!

I ate lunch there once. It was decent but I think we’d like to avoid Inner Harbor. Appreciate the suggestion though!
