I wish you the best. I moved to Baltimore 11 years ago and had a solo Christmas my first year here. Went out that night with a neighbor and met a guy. We celebrate ten years together on Sunday 🥰🥰

Sorry to hear that. I was invited to a nephew's house for Christmas dinner - Five out of control kids under the age of 10 and a wife who usually has an epic Karen meltdown at least once during the event. I begged out of going and am looking forward to a day of relaxing and not having to be anywhere.

If you're up for some cold weather, the Polish American Club in Fells Point carols through the streets each Dec 23rd. It starts at 7pm and is a wonderful time - I don't think going solo, as you'll find a group to join up with. Address is 512 S Broadway.

jew here. hit the movies, get some chinese food, revel in the short lines, assume anyone else you see is one degree of separation away from family. think about it like we do--hey, free day off of work, most places are closed so no real obligation to be anywhere, why not just hang out and relax!

(on a more serious note—BARCS and the Streetcar Museum always need volunteers! signing up for either of those are a great way to meet people, and it's fun to have a regular thing to do that makes you feel like you've made a difference.)

hey,. why don't you and OP meet somewhere for supper. Central Bar in Mount Vernon has been open past Christmases, and I imagine they still are. even if you end up not liking each other, it's still an experience.

Can I join too? I’m suddenly going to be spending my first Christmas alone and would love to be around someone.

Patterson public house is open on Christmas if anyone would like to go together.

I'm hitting up my local karaoke in Hollins Market. They will be open and I will be there. With the weather and the holiday I'm sure it wont be packed. Hope there are a few people there, if not more songs for me I guess lol. Better than spending the evening at home.

Edit: It's actually in the Hollins Market at a place called Mulberry's

I've pretty much spent the last 7 or 12 LOL Christmases alone (pretty much stopped keeping up). Even when I was in relationships during half that time, either the guy was not Christian or in one case the guy was Catholic but went abroad to be with his family at Christmas. It's not that bad, I have grown used to it.

It helps that I am not at all a Christmas person (prefer Thanksgiving), and I usually do some combination of go out for Chinese (or whatever is available, but I prefer Chinese), go to the movies, or just stay home and watch streaming. There is a whole world of (non-Christian) people who treat Christmas as just another day, and I lean into that. As you're making friends, keep in mind this is a great perk of having diverse people in your friend group. I will say one downside to living in Baltimore and not like Toronto or someplace is fewer restaurants are open.

It is what you make it. This year I am also making and freezing more cookie dough to replenish my depleted frozen supply after baking holiday cookies.

Binge Christmas movies and ice cream? Sorry, not any great ideas.

Can relate on the friend group though. Just came to the realization I haven't really made friends here, and am struggling to figure out how. lol.

What are you interested in? Theres tons of social things around

Still kinda figuring that out. Typically into nerdy stuff, video games, ttrpgs, etc. Movies, soccer, Frisbee. Also used to enjoy checking out breweries with my wife, so may be worth looking for a group to do that with.

Just haven't really been that socially active since college, so not sure how to try and make friends.
