The previous owners of my home setup and registered a LLC and bought two rowhomes in the city.

I still get mail for the LLC all the time; Water bills, Property Taxes, Tax Assessments, and even offers from other investors.

I've tried writing Return to Sender on the mail, and I even called the city to ask them to delete it. City said it would work its way out of the system, but here we are over a year later.

Does anyone know how to get the LLC address at least changed from my house?

Dealt with that for years. Bought a stamp that said RETURN TO SENDER and I'd cross out the scan code on the bottom edge. Eventually worked but took a long time.

I'm in the same boat. The previous owner of my house is a slumlord so I get citations from the city sporadically for his other properties. His LLC is no longer active and his other address on file for the LLC is a P.O. Box, which he's also since closed. No responses to my emails about changing the address for his (now defunct) LLC.

I reached out to SDAT about this almost a year ago and was told that legislation was recently passed by the state assembly (and supposedly took effect in October 2022 - Senate bill 447/House bill 390) that would allow SDAT to correct and/or notate in their system when an address has ceased to conform with law and the Department's requirements. They said they were working on a form affidavit for property owners to submit. I tried emailing them a few weeks ago to check in on this and haven't heard back yet.

I have the same, three years later I still get a ton of mail, presumably the business does everything online. Go on the Maryland corporation search, if you drill down you might find a different address listed for the principal contact / official notice and you can get in touch. I did this and they said they'd update their stuff, it slowed but didn'tstop. Now, I just write Return and stick it back out, it eventually disappears.

Dealing with the same issue but not from an LLC. Wouldn’t they need to get their address updated ASAP for IRS/tax purposes? If you bought the house, could you contact the realtor they used to see if they can get in touch with the previous owners?

They don't need to get their tax information if they don't care about their failed investment.

I still get mail for Hopkins students that rented from the previous owner and weird Libertarian mailings for the owner before that. It's so annoying, and I just write return to sender.

This is an upgrade from where I used to live. There I kept receiving parking and speeding tickets for the previous resident.

It costs the LLC owner $75 to do a change of address in Maryland. Most people use a registered agent or a PO box to avoid having to use their home address... So I'd imagine if the LLC owner never bothered to do those steps, they probably aren't going to bother with it now. You could go on Maryland's SDAT website and see if there's a phone number associated with the LLC and call or text them.

I just can't believe MD doesn't have a way to deal with zombie LLCs.

there's an app called Paper Karma that might be able to help with this. I saw the other day that you can now only use it five times for free but it has helped me in the past stop getting junk mail.

Have you contacted the post master general? I would recommend going to your local post office and dealing with it there. They should be able to stop the mailings
