Lol lol
I get it - probably a really common question (and after my deep dive I did see people asking about what to do). Figured my questions were just a little bit more specific than what people usually ask. Was hoping someone would also maybe have info about things happening specifically in May and for my age group. Thanks for taking the time to comment and help though!
Your post offers almost no specifics actually. If I had a week in Baltimore in May 2023, I'd go see the Orioles play at Camden Yards (assuming they're in town and assuming you like baseball), I'd go to AVAM, the BMA and the Walters (assuming you're at all interested in art), I'd walk around the zoo, aquarium and/or Ft. McHenry (assuming you're ambulatory* and interested in animals or history), I'd go bet on some horse racing at Pimlico (assuming you're in any way interested in a sport that rightly turns huge numbers of people off and watching it at a track that's needed a renvo. since the '80s [btw, if it's Preakness weekend, go to the Black Eyed Susan on Friday, not the actual Preakness]), I'd go see an indie flick at the Charles or the Parkway or the Senator or one of the other theaters around town (assuming you like movies), I'd go see a band at the Ottobar or the Metro Gallery or somewhere like that (assuming you like music [see: https://baltshowplace.tumblr.com/]) and then, I don't know, shopping and food in Fells Point, Fed Hill, Canton, Hampden, Mt. Vernon, I don't go out enough to care anymore and there's a post every other day about not-to-miss restaurants, etc. For me, not to miss would be La Cuchara, the Charleston and the Helmand.**
*No, you don't have to actually be ambulatory to go to these places.
**Cue someone telling me why one of these three places fucking suck now.
Sounds like an expensive but fun week to me!
Those places slap. Good job not saying Ekiben (which actually isn’t good).
I’d highly recommend searching the Baltimore subreddit for “things to do in Baltimore”. There’s about a hundred posts and it saves us time from restating things we’ve already said.
Same with safe neighborhoods, places to eat, best dive bars, etc. there have been some really great discussions even in the last couple days I think would really benefit you!
I’d figure out what part of the city you’ll be in, too, because your close options will differ between Locust Point, Fells Point, Mt Washington, etc. Baltimore isn’t a very connected city - our public transit system leaves a lot to be desired and we’ve got pockets of fantastic neighborhoods that are unfortunately surrounded by blocks I would not walk alone at any hour of the day. That doesn’t mean the whole place in unsafe, just that you should look into the safe neighborhoods. I’d hate to hear someone tried to walk to the Edgar Allen Poe house after sunset 🙃
We’ll be happy to have you! Hopefully you find some good spots
Whatever you do. Do NOT go to ekiben.

Out of curiosity - is there a reason why we should avoid Ekiben? Thank you!
They’re joking, it’s one of the best restaurants in Baltimore. Highly recommend! It’s just become a meme on this subreddit. I hope you enjoy your visit to Baltimore! Welcome!!
Ah, I see. Appreciate the clarification. Looking forward to checking it out!

It’s definitely not one of the best restaurants in Baltimore.
It’s a very popular shop in Baltimore where they make chicken sandwiches with bao buns. It’s good, but it’s been so hyped that by the time I tried it, my expectations were definitely higher than what I got. It’s like that movie that you would have thought was “decent”, but because everyone said it was “amazing”, you leave the theater disappointed.
So I don’t agree with the commenter who says it’s “not good”, but I also wouldn’t plan my trip to Bmore around it…
No it’s not good.
WHY
Do you guys like baseball? Os will be at home for long stretches of May, and Camden Yards is considered to be the most beautiful modern park in the MLB.
You mentioned cheap being a plus, Os have one of the lowest game-day costs in the league, thanks to low ticket prices and a very friendly outside food and drink policy
Thank you!

Go grab a drink at Faddensonen, Dutch Courage or the bar at Cookhouse. If you guys like beer there are tons of breweries in town with great craft beer. My favorites are Diamondback, Nepenthe, Union Craft but all of them are good IMO. Enjoy your visit!
The Port Comedy Club- Fells Point has free shows Monday & Tuesdays
Awesome. Will have to check this one out! Thank you!
Eat and drink at The Swallow at the Hollow
I drive by here all the time. What’s the clientele diversity like?
Also you should try out Chucks Trading Post in Hampden. Burgers fucking slap. 🔥
Also on my list, and pretty close to me!
I'd say it's pretty diverse. Good food and nice drinks. I cannot say I've ever had a bad meal! My girlfriend gets their wings which are delicious and I get burgers, meatballs, steamed skrimpsss. 10/10 would recommend. Bartenders are nice too!
Awesome, thanks!

A week is a long time to visit Baltimore... U just staying in Baltimore that whole time ?
I actually agree. I would make a trip to DC, Glenstone museum, and/or Philly out of it.

Man, I've been waiting for someone to ask what to do as an out-of-towner visiting Baltimore.
