Has anyone had any success getting out of a parking ticket due to having COVID without showing up to court? If so, who did you talk to or email? If not, does any one have any suggestions? Would the parking authority be my best bet, or a higher part of the government?
As some background as to why I'm asking, I am an out of state resident, but my boyfriend lives in Baltimore. Last week, I was visiting him during the week for a few days when I started feeling off and tested positive for COVID. I unfortunately had parked in a 2 hour parking space with an exception for overnight parking. I normally am diligent about moving it in the morning, but because of the isolation guidance, I didn't move my car until today. Thankfully, I only had one ticket, but there has to be someone in the city that understands that it's ridiculous that I was forced to choose between saving money and possibly giving others COVID while walking to and from my car every day.
I know my chances would be better with a judge, but I'm not sure it's worth it to risk having a court date on an inconvenient day or risk getting COVID, just to save $50. But sending an email to save $50 would definitely be worth it.
Edit: I figured I was being optimistic. Thanks for the confirmation everyone.

I’m not seeing how you couldn’t move you car even when you’re in quarantine… Couldn’t you have just put on a mask to move your car?
I wouldn’t waste my time fighting this. You’ll lose and just have to pay anyways. You could get lucky and have a very sympathetic judge, but that’s a bit unlikely…
