I just went on Amtrak’s site because that didn’t sound right, and you can definitely get round trip for 2 for $250 total or less. Just book a Northeast Regional (Acela is much more expensive) and compare hours. It’s going to be the most comfortable and easiest option of any.

There are buses that run between the cities, but I don’t know what companies other than Greyhound still exist since the pandemic and YMMV regarding comfortability.

You probably wouldn’t find an Uber below $300 and it’s not going to be comfortable.

Renting a car is an option, but again probably not as cheap.

There are some direct flights between BWI and JFK and LGA, but again it’s doubtful you’d find below $400 roundtrip for 2 for such an uncommon route. Plus you’ll have to get to the airports and go through airport security.

In terms of buses Peter Pan leaves from the Greyhound station as well, and the China buses out in Canton/Greektown area. Megabus says Baltimore but it's really Whitemarsh, so not a good option. But I agree, amtrak is by far the best option.

Go to wanderu, which is like the expedia of trains and buses. It'll tell you the cheapest/best option and then you can go to that option's website and book it.

I had an easy trip on megabus a month or so ago. Freedom car will do a nyc run, but I am sure it is pricey.

If you’re doing this in 1-2 days or over a weekend, a Turo with unlimited mileage would do.

Amtrak is priced like airline tickets. The closer to the date the more expensive.

If you buy them a few months out amtrak could be 1/4 that much.

Superior Tours runs every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from Pikesville, Towson and Abingdon. Luxury type bus. One way $50 or round trip $70. Need to reserve.

If you can get yourselves to Philly, the Chinatown bus to NY is like 20 bucks, and you’ll never NOT have a story to tell after riding it.

It’s worth trying at least once in your life. Best of luck!

I’m thinking about Gunther. I have a friend who had a bad experience on a MegaBus, so not going with that company.

OurBus is another option that picks up on Maryland Ave near Baltimore Penn Station (the old Boltbus area) and drops off in NYC. Make sure to select the Downtown Baltimore option, because they serve White Marsh as well. You can get these tickets for $25-50 each way usually. It’s a bus. My brother took it in September and had no complaints.

There are a few busses that can get you there and back for likely under $50

Like all things the further out you can book the better
