I just read The Diary of Anne Frank and there was no mention of a secret annex or WW2, which is what I was interested in. Did I get the wrong version or something?

I have it on my shelf right now and my version definitely mentions WW2 quite a few times and the words 'Secret Annex' were on what felt like every other page.

Go to the entry for June 6, 1944, if that doesn't mention D-Day then you have something weird.

I made a stupid mistake and read "A Young Girl's Diary by Grete Lainer" by accident, even though the ebook had the Anne Frank cover. Doh!

Yes, but it had Anne Frank's book cover. I got about 1/4 through and got suspicious because we still haven't met Anne or seen the attic, or even mentioned WW2

I love Tricia Levenseller's medieval fantasies - Warrior of the Wild (standalone, Vikings/monsters) and Blade of Secrets (duology, magical bladesmith) - both easy, light reads, with a fun cast of characters. Legends & Lattes is an awesome "cozy fantasy" - not much plot, but a fun vibe.

Can anyone actually find this quote in Winnie the Pooh #1?

Iā€™ve heard that the quote ā€œIā€™m not lost for I know where I am. But however, where I am may be lostā€ is in the first Winnie the Pooh (A.A. Milne) published in 1926. I canā€™t find this quote in any ebook version online and looking if anyone knows exactly where in the book I can find it.

A little back ground, I'm not a huge book reader I've read a handful of books in my 30 years ( the hobbit, gears of war, fluke by James Herbert, and some auto biographies). In my spare time when the little one gets to sleep I normally jump on the Xbox or fall asleep šŸ¤£ . My SO loves to read and would be nice to just zen out together. I've tried getting into the Witcher books , game of thrones and I just get lost and give up šŸ˜¢. Love the games and TV series but the books just don't. Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions for me to try? Thanks in advance :)

Maybe start with some novellas to get a feel of what you enjoy. If you love it great. If you hate it at least you didnā€™t waste much time. Iā€™ll recommend some shorter books for you.

Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. There are four books total and each one is roughly 200 pages or less. Itā€™s about a cyborg that acts as security for humans and ends up hacking itself to have free will.

Singing Hills Cycle by Nghi Vo. A cleric goes around the country recording history from oral stories.

Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. An area known as Area X is said to be a pristine habitat, but there are mysterious happenings effecting the people who venture in the area.

Comfort Me with Apples by Catherynne Valente.

Maybe even try audiobooks. Some books I feel are better if theyā€™re listened to. Good luck finding something you like.

City of Theives is a very straightforward story with friendship and a fast paced adventure. It's a good beginner book I think. The book Atomic Habits is excellent but TLDR it teaches to make tiny commitments, like 5 or 10 minutes per day to start a habit.
