I think I would end up with far more DNF than not.

I find myself reading farther into a story because I want to see where the story is going. I DID however just DNF The Wise Man’s Fear after really enjoying The Name of the Wind.

Most of these replies are making me feel like it might not be. But I will not change my ways!

I gotta know at leas the basics before I read to know if I’d even be interested in finishing

I think it depends. Some books I will read a synopsis if I have trouble with understanding it, but other books, like more fiction stuff like DUNE or Ender's game type of vibes I like the story to, like you said; unfold in front of me.

I try my hardest to do this with movies I’m really interested in. But I find myself watching movie trailers more often than not.

Oh, is some distant land still printing summaries on the back? Can I perhaps move there?

And nah, I'm fairly picky about what I'm interested in. I'll take recs and I've been trying to branch out, but it's very hit or miss and you can imagine how helpful it is to me to know Random Celebrity #3173's secretary glanced at the first draft and thought it was pretty alright.

I like genres and try to grab books from those sections of the bookstore. Covers usually get me tho. I found myself running to the science fiction section after seeing the cover for book three of Janitors of the Post Apocalypse but knowing nothing else about it.
