I feel like he just tacks on some sex scene out of nowhere. They feel weird and out of place to me. This is what I had concluded after reading his Raft and Mist and other works.

One more thing, most of his characters share this odd mental habit of going on some weird tangent. They think of something unrelated funny and weird in the most incongruous of places. It feels kinda artificial, like I could chalk it as some eccentricity of a character but most of his characters seem similar on this. Your thoughts?

I don't mean to hate on him, I like his writing and ideas for most part. His characters feel alive, at least until I hit some particularly long-winded stream-of-consciousness, or when surprise sex leaps out at me from the pages to make me realize I'm reading Stephen King, whose editor had allegedly long since given up grappling with drug-enhanced and libido-enhanced SK.

Edit: developments as in turn of events, across all his works the sex scenes feel like a foisted bolt out of the blue, not saying that he adopted this quirk for a change recently or anything
