All libraries involve a selection process, since no library can fit every book ever published. That's not a controversial idea. What is controversial is taking books about puberty out of high schools "because they're providing porn to kids", and taking books that acknowledge non-straight people exist at all out of elementary schools "because they're grooming kids". Neither of those justifications are true; nobody was providing 5-year-olds with PornHub membership or The Illustrated Marquis De Sade.

I agree with you. I don't think banning sex-ed books in high school is the right call. Nor do I think sexually explicit content is inappropriate for high schoolers. And yes, banning books with queer characters/about the queer experience is also not a good thing. It's insane what the groomer panic has led to, and it's scary to think about what it may lead to in the future...

Do you remember a couple years ago when right-wing pundits tried to tell us that furries were replacing school bathrooms with litterboxes? 😂

nooo don't remind me 😅

then it turned out those litter boxes were used so children could use the bathroom during school shootings, the very thing they couldn't care less about preventing
