It’s great! East of Eden is my favorite novel and Travels with Charlie is the closest he ever came to an autobiography. He isn’t preaching but he shares his perspective and asks poignant and still relevant questions about America’s culture, future, and values. He’s such a phenomenal writer and listening on audiobook goes down easy.

I love how diners have “little coffins” of jam and jelly.

If you ever get to Salinas, California you can see the actual truck.

“Charley”…I named my last dog after him. When he passed, I named my next dog Toby as the story goes he ate the first draft of “Of Mice and Men”.

I read it back in July and had a blast. Made me want to trace the trail myself, especially to check out Montana.

Last week I was in Monterey and saw Ed Ricketts shack where Doc's lab is. I love traveling Steinbeck country

I’m scared I won’t like it as much as Blue Highways. I also have a copy of “In America,” about following Steinbeck’s path in the 21st century.

The new Orleans school segregation protest scene is very powerful

Shame there are doubts as to whether he made the whole book up
