You got to take some risks with books, get out of your safety zone. try things you never thought you would try. I read Harry Potter and like almost everyone I found it fantastic.

I don't know anything about these Peter Jackson books, but what if everyone here said "They shit", but they were wrong? What if you found books you could love, even if everyone said "they shit"?

Be wild youngin, try them out and see if it's your jam or nah.

I think they're pretty great, actually. Riordan's writing style is geared for a youngish audience but he's a competent storyteller, and his books hold up to multiple readings. Not a complicated story, I highly HIGHLY recommend pulling up myths and reading them as you run into them.

i really liked them when i read them, the story is good and the characters were likeable. They might have a slightly juvenile vibe but they are written for middle schoolers so i don't see it as a bad thing

The Percy Jackson series was my life in middle school! It's been a couple years, but I still think (from an adult POV) the characters are developed well, the plot is compelling and exciting, and it's a great introduction to Greek mythology.

As an early teenager, I appreciated the well-rounded cast of female characters. They're realistically portrayed and have dimension, which is hard sometimes in YA novels.

I definitely recommend it (even to adults who want something fun), just don't watch the movies.

I think the are great if you don't know much about Greek mythology and are just looking for something really simple. An excellent gateway into reading which is why is very popular with 8-16 year olds. For me the writing is way too simple and because I have gone on to read Greek mythology the schtick of taking Percy and his friends into the Greek stories just wasn't interesting anymore.

I read them at uni so a bit older than the target audience. I enjoyed them. Easy to read but also found it obvious to guess who bad guys were etc who certain children were really etc.

Easy read though. And i like Greek mythology so that added to my enjoyment

Controversial but I also liked the films. Looking forward to the tv series even though I’m now in my 30s haha.
