Have you had your vision checked? I thought I was having issues with attention and focus because I kept losing my place like you, but it turns out I just needed reading glasses.

Having to reread entire lines is what led me to being diagnosed with ADHD. Check vision like other guy mentioned. It sometimes helps for me to listen to the audiobook version while reading the print in order to retain focus, especially for longer texts.

Is this something new or something you've struggled with long term? That could help to narrow down the cause.

What you have described are common synthoms of dyslexia but that are also applicable to other neurodivergent conditions . I suggest you see a specialist that can give you a proper diagnosis. After that there are tons of strategies you can apply , for example using an ebook with certain type of fonts and spacing. I've experienced remarkable results with the kids I work with with some of these relatively simple tricks, without more details it's difficult for me to suggest something specific thought . EDIT: as others pointed out he could also be simply a vision problem , a good psychologist will also test that thought so my advice still stands.

I have the same problem but I think slightly milder and I usually just have a receipt that I use for reference because receipts are like really light and not too big but still big enough for me

idk tho that is just what I do, you can try it out and see if it works for you and if not, I wish you the best of luck

That happens to me too but i always figured it was because the book was boring, i stopped reading every time after that happened but it gets annoying after a time, you can't keep up with one book and this whole stack of unread books just adds on to your guilt. Is this really related to eye problem though?

If the finger works stick with it. It's a fairly classic and inexpensive reading device.

Have you tried reading aloud to yourself? I do this sometimes for fun and it usually helps me stay focussed on which line I am on. I read in Braille.

anxiety and inability to focus can do that. it happens to me more when studying but if the anxiety is bad it can happen with novels as well. usually the same reason you don't feel like watching a movie

Hi there. Your post would be better asked in our Simple Questions thread. It helps us keep the main subreddit focused around broader discussion rather topics which only apply to an individual. Thank you!
