Interesting! Who are your favorite people on TikTok to get book recs?
I love asking my friends for recommendations! It’s fun to report back that I loved their favorite book.

Cool- thanks for that! I don't know who any of those people are but I bet google does!

I have a backlog of books both in my house and on my Kindle, so I can choose from those. I also have a handful of authors I follow, and I get plenty of recommendations primarily from Reddit and booktube.
Yeah, same! I have a long list of books, but sometimes you just want something fresh, ya know?
I do. In my eyes, the books on my shelf that I haven't read are fresh to me because I haven't read them 😃
I like BookRiot and Electric Lit for recommendation lists. BookRiot has a bunch of newsletters for different genres so you can find out what's new and hyped.
This is an awesome suggestion, thanks!
I read “Light Novels”, they are Japan’s version of the “young adult” novel but they have a much wider audience and demographic spread. They also tend to be long running series that can reach 15~20+ volumes. Some of the more popular titles tend to get adapted into animated series.
I started with some lists (Time Magazine’s Top 100 English language novels 1923 - 2005, Modern Library’s Top 100), which I started reading through some of those. It helped me to find authors that I enjoyed, and I checked out more of their works. I’ve expanded to several other lists… That gave me a good base of likes/dislikes/genres.
Eventually, I found some bookstagram friends who have read a number of novels I’ve also enjoyed. So, I see what they are reading.
Other times, I’ll pick a country and look up some novels of note from that country. That can be interesting.
Between the lists, and recommendations from my bookstagram friends, and just a general sense of curiosity… I have a never ending to-read list.
Hi there. This subject has been very popular in the past. Please use reddit search and/or check the /r/books/wiki/faq.
woops, thanks!

I primarily go off recommendations I get off tiktok or by authors that I've enjoyed in the past. I occasionally will pick up a random book but not often.
