I've had good results from thrift books. I've only had one or two books come in with highlighting. I think they pretty accurately discribe books.

They've been a good resource for me several times. They tend to accurately describe the conditions of the books, and the prices are great comparatively.

I've used thriftbooks a lot, and every book I have ordered has been in the condition it was advertised. I have never used them for textbooks, but the novels and nonfiction I've gotten are always in great shape, especially considering the price.

ThriftBooks is generally very good. The lines between what's good-acceptable and beyond are a little bit iffy, but good is usually pretty good, and like new is almost always like new.

I've gotten a textbook or two through them.

Use the isbn number of the book you want at bookfinder.com will show other sites as well (make sure to set Canada as your destination). You can also use it to find the best price on textbook buyback, but that may not work as well for outside the US.

One tip when doing textbooks is definitely go by the ISBN if you want to make sure you get the correct one. Sometimes it is fine getting a different version number or an international edition, but not always. Also, when going used you aren't going to have codes for online homework access which depending on the course you may need. Often, I found it was cheaper to buy the course access + digital edition or loose-leaf binder edition of the text direct from the publisher than buying the book used+access or going through the schools bookstore.

I buy sci-fi and history books from them. Been very pleased with the service and condition of the books. These were for my personal use and we're not text books.

I use them often I like them. Best option for series or one author is to go on ebay and look for "x author lot" then use thrift books to fill in the blanks saves 20-30 bucks if not more.

You should read their description of what those terms mean. They will be readable, but will probably not look very pretty and will likely have notes and highlighting.

Use them all the time, if you don't mind books a bit beat up they have the best prices, especially for older stuff. Newer books the prices arent so good.

I’ve always had a good experience with Thriftbooks. I haven’t purchased textbooks specifically, but all the books I have gotten from them were in conditions exactly if not better than how they described. Chances are things that are acceptable or good will have a few cover creases or maybe some highlights. I’ve never gotten something unreadable from them. Definitely a good option for cheep used books!

I’ve ordered from them many times. They’re solid. They’re great esp for out of print books.

I love thriftbooks! However I have found that their condition descriptions are kinda meaningless. Most of the ‘good’ books I’ve gotten have been better than ‘like new.’ However I’ve also gotten a ‘good’ book that looked like it was thrown in the ocean, it couldn’t even be read. But they’ve always been quick to refund if the condition doesn’t match what you paid for!

I absolutely LOVE ThriftBooks! I order from them all the time. Their description of the condition of the book has been spot-on in my experience.

Hi there. Your post would be better asked in our Simple Questions thread. It helps us keep the main subreddit focused around broader discussion rather topics which only apply to an individual. Thank you!
