The first Expanse book, Leviathan Wakes definitely highlights this, with each book following playing around with different genres such as conspiracy thriller, western frontier, etc.

A love story set in the fires of hell. Two love starved people trying to make it work against the constant sulfur smell and petty jealous demons with their tridents and mocking tone

One of my absolute favourite books is Cinnamon and Gunpowder which reads like those cooking blogs where you have to scroll through someone’s life story to get the recipe… BUT SET ON A PIRATE SHIP IN 1819.

Murder mysteries before 1700s. Yes The name of the rose is one. But even earlier like Roman times.
