Tomorrow is Public Domain Day in the US. What newly in the public domain book will you be reading in 2023?

The big ones coming out of copyright tomorrow include To the Lighthouse (Woolf), The Bridge at San Luis Rey (Wilder), Men Without Women (Hemingway) and The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes (Coman Doyle- all the Sherlock Holmes stories are now public domain). Other authors with books coming out of copyright include Wharton, Faulkner, Cather, Christie, A.A. Milne, Kafka and Hesse.

Big year for movies too, including Wings (1st Academy Award Best Picture winner), Metropolis and The Jazz Singer.

I’ve been meaning to read that. Admittedly it’s a bit intimidating from lots of people saying how difficult it is to read.

I was intimidated too, read many times on this sub not to start with that one. One day I just picked it up to read a page or two and was completely drawn in, finished it in two days (slow reader). One of my all time favourites. Just try a couple of pages and see what you think!

it is a stream of consciousness novel. A narrative technique where the thoughts and emotions of a narrator or character are written out such that a reader can track the fluid mental state of these characters It wont be difficult once you start and keep at it. good luck
