I see Project Gutenberg as a godsend. During the pandemic I spent a lot of time just looking up various books from the 16th century onwards, with some help of Wikipedia of course.

This lead to a few reading lists and discovery of writers that I think are largely forgotten today, some of those writers include:

Elinor Wylie, had an very interesting life, was both an actress and writer, her book of poetry, Nets to Catch Wind took my breath away.

Claire de Duras, French writer from the 18th and 19th century, loved her novella Ourika

C.C. MacApp, American Sci Fi writer, largely active after WW2, His short story All That Earthly Remains is one of my favorite thrillers.

C.L. Moore, also an American Sci Fi writer, she was one of the first female sci fi writers who earned a living writing this genre, her novella Tree of Life has some of the most pleasing prose I have ever read.

Matthew Gregory Lewis, 19th century novelist, he wrote Monk which is a brilliant gothic novel about a corrupt priest. The book itself reads like the best telenovela of all time.

What are some of your favorite writers that you think should be more widely read?
