I am just wondering because I feel like I am the only person who enjoys having the map. I read a lot of fantasy-type books and I spend a decent amount of time studying and referencing the maps but friends of mine say they barely even glance at the maps.
I just like to know where things are and have a visual of where characters are and what the terrain may be like.. I also get a sense of scale if they are travelling - LOTR included a great map of Mordor and I think it made reading them much more enjoyable.
I am just about to start the The Folk of the Air series and when I opened up The Cruel Prince and saw the map of Elfhame I got very excited.. I just feel like the book is going to be full of adventure if the author felt the need to include a map.
