The last I heard, JM (Babylon 5) Straczynski, the executor of Ellison's estate, had pledged to preserve Ellison's house and make all of his work available in new editions. Clearly it's taking some time, and existing contracts and licenses may have lapsed.
Oh man, I loved that story! I did an essay comparing and contrasting it with Dalton Trumbo's "Johnny Got His Gun" and the professor loved it. Boy that was a long time ago.

I heard him read it aloud at UCLA some 50 years ago. Funny and dynamic guy. Still have the original copy. Hope it gets released.
