if you want something thrilling and also considered literature, I would recommend A Farewell to Arms by Hemmingway.

If you like gothic books then you might like the castle of otranto. Obb if you want to read some nice sagas then Harry Potter or His Dark Materials are really good

I did. It’s my favorite book. I also understand it’s sort of fallen out of favor the last 10 years or so. It’s important to remember it’s a work of fiction and a critique of a government that doesn’t exist anymore. It’s not meant to be a modern political platform.

Yeah I kind of got that. I read in 2003 IIRC.

But I felt it was a bit preachy, more a manifesto than a story. Perhaps if I had known it I would have not been bothered.
