Hi Guys! Just wanted to ask if reading a book interferes with your day to day chores. I'm a student preparing for competitive exams but picked up the kite runner to read and was not ready for what was about to happen there.

Now I'm in a dilemma, as to should read the book or not, because i know I'll keep thinking about the book when i study.

Does this happen to you too? How do you deal with it?

I read in bed at the end of the day.

Yes it does and no I don't care, I'd rather read than do chores.

You always have the option to combine reading and productivity with audiobooks while commuting or doing chore-type-things. There are so many good books free on the Libby app and at your local library.

Hope this helps!

Being able to listen to a good audiobook while doing boring chores like doing the dishes or hanging up laundry made me sooo much more productive.

Currently no, but I believe we have seasons in our lives where reading needs to take a backseat or we need to read easy books.

You can choose books that are less emotionally intense and thought provoking while you are in school. Anything described as cozy or light would work. Also journalistic nonfiction as long as the subject isn't tragic.

A constant struggle for me… just one more chapter! I often read at night. Sometimes you have to just set aside the time or pick a firm stop in the book. Sometimes you just have to pay for the sleep deprivation! Some books are worth it.

It usually doesn't interfere, but if you got something important coming up and you need to focus on that, then a book can be a bit distracting, especially if it's a good book and The Kite Runner is great, so be warned!

I have had this often and I must say that the idea that fascinated me in the process of reading a book could have a greater impact on me and my life than studying a certain subject at the university. I was forced to study well because of the tuition discount, but in the end I did not refuse books and just slept less. Having lived long enough, I have never regretted reading a good book and how it inspired and captivated me, which I cannot say about all the activities that were not interesting to me ...

Time blocking. Make an appointment to do your chores. Make another appointment to do your reading.

PS Listen to audiobooks and you can do chores and reading at the same time.

Oh yeah. I lose time reading all the time. I MADE myself not read fiction in college (unless it was fanfic, lol) because I have no willpower when it comes to a good book. I read before falling asleep, but last night I was in bed at 10 and was still awake at 1 before I finally put the book down. I always think there could be worse addictions . . .
