Generally I read 2 paragraphs when resuming from where I left off, not to specifically recall but sort of to get back into the flow. I was just curious how much others feel like re-reading, if at all?

P.S. Sometimes I have to read an entire page. P.P.S. Of course when picking up a book after days, this will change. I’m only talking about books you read daily.

None. The concept never even crossed my mind!

I always try to stop reading at the end of a chapter so I don’t have to reread. But if not I’ll go back to the top of the page or a few paragraphs.

Considering I always push it too far and fall asleep while reading, I usually have to backtrack a few pages the next day.

Usually none. Maybe the last sentence if there was a break in the middle of the page.

If I had an absolute terrible time following the night before then I’ll read a paragraph or two to make it make sense…. Normally if I’m struggling that hard I quit early so I don’t have to back track. Otherwise I pick up where I left off…. I can even leave days /weeks between and still generally pick up where I left

None. I just start from where I stopped.

I don't. I try to stop at the end of chapters, so I just pick up with the next chapter.

0 words. I usually stop at a chapter end or a break.

Depends on how asleep/drunk I was, since I usually read in the bed and I often do stop at random points either because I can't see straight or somebody else is ready for the lights to go off. I also listen to audio books a lot and I always back it up between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.

I don't re-read anything. Maybe if I've put a book down for a few weeks or months, I might re-read a page or two, but never for just one day!

I usually skim a couple paragraphs to get myself back into the flow and remember exactly where I left off.

I only reread when I drift off, read like 4 pages without realizing it, and then noticing I have no clue what's going on.

I do the same. I really believe it relates to how individual brains work. I have learned a lot about working memory and short term and long term memory. It makes so much sense when I look at how I remember things. If anyone has recommendations on a book that helps explain the brain and mental exercises that we can do to help the weaker parts, please let me know. If I need to be a scientist to read it, please don’t recommend.

Usually try to figure out the last paragraph I remember well and then start again from that.

If I was able to stop at a clear breaking point, I don't usually reread anything. If for some reason I stopped on just a random page, I skim the page until I find where I left off.

I've never re-read a page, always end my reading session at the end of a chapter, starting a new chapter next time I pick up the book

I just read starting from the exact sentence I left off on, even if I stopped in the middle of a chapter.

If I stop reading at the end of a chapter I usually don’t. But if I stop reading mid-page I usually just start at the top of the page - read it in full or skim down to where I was depending on how well I remember.

Totally depends on the content. If I'm reading something by Pinker on neuroscience, I'll generally have to peel back about two or three paragraphs. When I'm reading something like Warhammer fantasy, I can normally just pick up and read and it'll fall back into context quickly.

When I set a book down for a while, I'll typically just skim the previous few pages upon picking it back up to see if I remember what was going on.

Rarely, if ever. If I finish a chapter or a page and think "what did I just read" then I'll go back.

Depends on the book. Novels, I rarely reread unless I've out the book down midchapter. Essays, at least one paragraph each time

I don't. I will stop in the middle of a chapter but I stop at the end of a page. When I restart I just go on to the next page.

I try to aim for one chapter every day. It's really not a lot and keeps me reading and making progress. If I want to read more I will, but as I'm busy and try to balance my activities, a single chapter is better than not reading at all.

I don’t re-read in the way you specified. But generally when I’m reading, my concentration shifts a lot, and I’ll find my ‘eyes’ reading faster than my brain. Then by the time I’ve re-read the last paragraph or so, I think ‘yes I’ve definitely already read this’. It’s a problem.

Nothing unless it's been a while since I read (like I put down the book for a month and am trying to remember what last happened without having to start all over).

I have trouble putting books down when I am really into them. I'll flip back to a logical start of something happening instead of just jumping in.

I love to read books more than once. When I do that I don't usually go back as far.

I usually place my book mark at a natural story break, like the beginning of a convo, a chapter, a paragraph break, etc.

If it’s consecutive days I usually don’t feel the need to (always stop at chapter breaks).

If I’ve been away from a book for more than a few days/a week, I’ll usually skim the previous page.
