Pretty sure it was a typo and OP meant Bolaño's last book. It wasn't finished until his final days and published posthumously.

Ok I read it as in, “I’ve read all of Bolaño’s work and I’m finishing up with 2666” and your read makes so much more sense because mine seems real bizarre.
