I went last year the day after the big storm and it was so much fun for being 25 minutes away. By the looks of things it's been dirt all year and this snow won't last. Since I took up skiing 5 years ago, I thought Blue Hills would be my afternoon ski spot, but it just hasn't been snowing enough in Boston

This has been a challenging season for Blue Hills. Between the lack of natural snow and the mild, warm winter weather it’s been difficult to attract skiers. However, it’s open today and with the cold snap coming for the weekend + the natural snow predicted for early next week, conditions should be better than usual for this winter.

You should post this to r/skiing if for some reason you desired to be belittled by a bunch of douches from Colorado.

Meh, I learned to ski in the mountains and I used to scoff at the little ski areas around here, too. But the truth is, it’s still skiing and it’s still fun, and the fact that you can hop in the car on a whim and be on the slope in 20-40 minutes, without having to plan an expensive multi-day trip, is definitely appealing.

It's a great way to have an afternoon/evening workout. I also think it's a shame that people get so focused on needing to go to a ski mountain 2 hours away and force themselves to spend 8 hours on the slopes. Going to the small local places is great way to work on your turns and get some exercise and outside time because you never feel obligated to spend more than 90 minutes if you're not having a good time.

One year I was working nearby and got a season pass here, ended up skiing basically every night after work for a few hours. Made more progress with my skiing that season than any other. Love this little place

Wow -- getting flashbacks from days of old, going from MA to Killington to ski (at full Mt. price) one trail on their bunny slope, 'cuz it was open around Halloween-ish, while everyone around here was still raking leaves in their shorts

Went there last night - acceptable skiing, had the hill to myself, and they were cranking the snowmaking equipment at the end. Perfect for getting a quick hit of midweek skiing. Hope that they haven't taken enough of a hit this year that they can make it to next winter.
