Hi, this is probably a long shot but it can't hurt.

My wife and I were playing with our dog and a few others at McKinney park on Faneuil St in Brighton around noon yesterday (Feb 25). Another dog showed up who was clearly a little nervous and snapped at our dog when he approached. It was quickly resolved and we went our separate ways.

Unfortunately our dog has a ludicrously high pain tolerance, so it wasn't until we got home that we noticed a bite on his side. Not a serious one, thankfully, but we still have to follow confinement protocols. And because we haven't ID'd the other dog, the protocols are way more strict - looking at a 45 day period of isolation, which is going to be a big problem since I don't work from home.

So, random dude in Brighton with the nervous brown dog: we don't want money or anything, but we could really use a photo of your dog's rabies vaccination tag right about now. And you need to quarantine your dog for 10 days.

Barring the above, how do I find someone without being a cop about it?

My experience says you'd be better off asking people at the dog park. Someone may know the dog.

Hell, the guy may just show up there over the next day or so.

Poor dog. I echo the sentiment, your best bet is to hand around the dog park.

I didn’t realize people actually followed the MA quarantine law on this for vaccinated animals. I know nobody does for scratches. Dog squabbles at parks are pretty common, so that’s good to know.

It’s definitely somewhat common (especially since the pandemic) but this is the first time he’s ever been injured.

Tbh I think the rules are a little excessive, but our dog goes to a daycare so I want to be respectful of them.

Thanks for being cautious. If more people acted this way with other dog aliments too (I’m thinking kennel cough/other mild communicable doggies illnesses ) I’d feel a lot better taking my pup to dog parks.

Does your dog having the rabies vaccine not override the need for a quarantine?

My dog has been attacked twice. Both times the vet told us just to give him a rabies booster asap and he'd be fine (but this was in CT so maybe different laws)

People with biting dogs are unreasonable. Absolute shit heads. If it’s a pit times a zillion.
