I did this recently and the photos were rejected at the USPS When we applied for passports. It’s not just the size but also how large your head appears within the frame (which is detailed on the application and I just did not appreciate it.) So be forewarned.

I will say…the USPS lady at the Davis Sq. Post office couldn’t have been nicer in taking the correct pics and processing the application.

I brought them a photo of my wife taken on her iPhone. They zoomed it and cropped it correctly and it was accepted. I think I went to Porter Sq CVS, though this was in 2017.
