Looking to combine a list of sandwiches places around these areas. Criteria is under $15 after tax and tips, and also tasty. Name the restaurant and which sandwich if you can.
Thank you.

FoodDy's hot chicken sandwich is gonna crush this competition. It's massive and comes with fries for 12.50.
Al’s Cafe on Main Street in Cambridge. $11 + tax for a bigass “small” sub, a bag of chips, and a drink. $9.50 for just the sandwich. A price increase is coming next month tho.
Tattes and Flour both have great sandwiches - I have had several - will run you around $13 or so for just the sandwich.
Skampa in East Cambridge. They used to do hamburger subs on Wednesdays for $4 or $5. This was pre-pandemic so ymmv.
Great hot dogs haha
Chacarero in Boston will be my answer forever. It's in downtown crossing, on Arch St.
Chilean beef/chicken sandwiches with avocado, hot sauce, tomato, and green beans. Top 5 bite in Boston. I would do disgusting things for their hot sauce recipe, especially the extra hot.
You can get it "BBQ" style, which just means they add grilled red peppers.
Pre-pandemic it was $11 for a small, $13 for a large.
I’m gonna need this
2nd street cafe I HIGHLY recommend in East Cambridge
Cardullos
People may hate but a Market Basket 12” is like $5-6. They give you enough chicken salad to just about make a whole ‘nother sandwich too.
Anthony's East Side deli in East Arlington. They can nail a basic turkey and swiss sandwich, but once you try the momos that won't matter anyways.
They have new owners now has gone downhill. Not alot of deli selection anymore
Pemberton farm in Cambridge
I respectfully disagree. The last ownership change brought great improvement.
Bob’s in Medford
Teele Square in Somerville if anyone wants to know. Good food.
ABC Pizza in Central, divey Greek pizza style food but if you like that stuff as much as I do it’s great. Subs all start at $9.50.
Cambridge Pizza on the other side of Central, better quality, $12+ for subs.
Cardullo's in Harvard Square top out at $12.99, they are BIG and some serious gourmet shit.
I like their Momos. Haven't tried the sandwich there
Tenoch in Davis Square for delicious tortas (mexican style sandwiches)! The campechana torta in particular is fab
I will name one. Dave's Fresh Pasta near Davis square Somerville
Yessss. Those Tortas slap
Go over to Watertown and hit up Meat Spot. I’ve loved every sandwich I’ve ever gotten there.
$6.50 Lamb flatbread at Gene's Chinese flatbread cafe.
It might be outside your radius, but honorary mention to New Deal Fruit in Revere for the "it's really two meals" portion for the price. Get the tornado if you want a top tier Italian sub.
I find most supermarket deli sandwiches are cheapish and goodish, and usually quite large. If you want to just shove a bunch of food down your gullet, grab a chicken salad sub from any supermarket deli.
163 Vietnamese sandwich in Chinatown used to have tremendous bahn mi sandwiches on the cheap, like $6-7 bucks.
Also the closest place to downtown that has an authentic north shore beef.
Montrose Spa on Mass Ave in Cambridge between Harvard and Porter. Great prices and good quality, basically everything under $10.
Went up $1 or so, but depends on the meat/combo. $16 and change for the large BBQ combo.
I used to buy the bread and take it home to make sandwiches.
That bread is unreal too. Sucks to hear prices went up, but it's still on par/a bit cheaper than other lunch options in the area.
A decently sized bowl at Grainmaker would run like $15-17 pre-pandemic.
Falafel King and his prices will continue to reign supreme.
MaMagoo’s. I know that they are known for their chicken tenders but their steak egg and cheese is my favorite.
MaMagoo’s in Cambridge. I know that they are known for their chicken tenders but their steak egg and cheese is my favorite.
The Wine and Cheese Cask on the Somerville/Cambridge line. Their sandwiches are $10, good ingredients, and I often can't finish a full one.
Pinocchio's, Harvard Square. Decent, basic sub shop.
Lambert’s on tremont along the common. Boars head meat. I got a turkey w cranberry sauce, added bacon for a buck, cheese is also xtra on this sandwich. Got a bag of chips and a Nantucket nectar. All in was $14+
Yes, another vote for my friend the Falafel King... Many, many lunches from him. I'm partly responsible for the "special" from asking for falafels added to my sandwich all the time way back when.
Best sandwiches in Boston area and the thing I miss most about living in Davis.
The special wrap with chicken and falafel was always the go to. Something about their super watery/kind of shitty packets of hot sauce will away hold a place in my heart.
13 for a large, cut it in thirds and it's enough for 3 meals or people
tony’s market in roslindale has a very nice italian for under $10. other sandwiches too
Tutto Italiano, Hyde Park: Italian (with everything), but don't sleep on their eggplant parm roasted eggplant balsamic with fresh mozz and basil. $12.
Oriental de Cuba, JP: Cubano (original). $10.
Edited: Tutto's parm is good, but dude below correctly notes their superior eggplant sandwich.
That is a wild fact, almost unbelievable
Sam Lagrassa’s
it's a really good one too!
I think you missed the $15 part. Lagrassa’s is delicious but overpriced.
Dave’s fresh pasta in Davis. Might be just around or above $15 but damn they are good
Michael’s Deli in Brookline (off Beacon). Every sandwich with tax is below $15. I love the Surfside Club and Cancer Stinks sandwich but there is something for everyone on their menu.
I really miss the Al's in Harvard Square.
Dave's Fresh Pasta.
This is the answer. Banh mi is still reasonable in most Vietnamese places. Also delicious.
Ideal Sub Shop on Dudley St in Roxbury. Anything on the menu is good. Tuna is fresh out of the can. All cold cuts fresh sliced right in front of you. A lot cheaper than $15.
I second this, theres a Tenoch in my town and its great hardy sandwich for not too bad between 10-13 depending on what you get
Dave's Fresh Pasta in Davis!
Vinal General Store in Union - I usually get their speciality vegetarian sandwich or make a custom sub with veggies and pimento cheese spread.
Suasday in the North End. Cambodian place. Lemongrass chicken sandwich. I have dreams about that thing.
Angelina's Pizza in Teele Square in Somerville may have the best subs in town.
Bob's Italian Market in Medford is also awesome - massive sandwiches though.
If a burger is a sandwich, Tasty Burger is an incredible burger for it's price.
Al's on State Street is good not great. The best value is how quickly they turn a sandwich out.
FoodDy's in Teele Square has massive sandwiches and portions for the price. Incredible fried chicken, jerk chicken, etc sandos.
Jim's Deli in Brighton.
Al’s for subs - roast beef their way my fav
Livite (Brookline) - best buffalo wrap I’ve had to date
Monica’s - slightly overrated/overpriced. But it’s good. Italians, chicken cutlets etc.
Fígaros - flies under most peoples radar. But sneakily some of the best sandwiches around. Try the Sonny Corleone.
Beachmont Roast Beef for hot style roast beef
Let’s not exaggerate. I used to eat whole large for one meal
Choriqueso gang checking in
I've really enjoyed sandwiches from Vinal General Store near Union Square in Somerville. They're on the pricier side (the ciabatta can put you above $15, but on their country loaf, sandwiches are more like $10-11.
I refuse to blow up my spot. Gatekeeping 😘
PK Deli in Cambridge. Hole-in-the-wall, gargantuan subs, solid quality (esp. pastrami), approx. $10 and definitely passes the crucial test of: "I can get two meals out of this, but I want to just finish it now and spend the whole afternoon out of commission in a food coma".
Cafe Rustica: Down the street from P&K, not huge, but tasty and decently-sized and in the $10-12 range.
Roust: maybe. Took over the Mt. Auburn Darwin's. Kept a lot of things the same, though TBD if they can hold the candle to the former sandwhich kingpin's quality. The price is also borderline...
I mostly list Roust bc I was a former Darwinian and they are the most logical Successor Sandwich to the fallen great.
You are indeed one super duder.
I made the mistake of getting a large when they first opened and oof. I got something with sauce so I couldn’t refrigerate it and had to eat it all at once. Needless to say, I didn’t need dinner that evening.
The Prosciutto Panino is my go to
Rondo’s in Southie. Everything is good but my favorite is the tuna.
Bruschetta sandwich from Pressed with pasta salad on the side.
They have the best Honey Mustard chicken tender sandwiches!!!
I never thought to combine the two!
Oh man, I love the Meat Spot. Good call!
Barely makes the cut on price by Vinal General Store in Somerville has some really great sandwiches. Their bakery also has awesome breakfast English muffin sandwiches
Had a steak and blue cheese on ciabatta from there yesterday 👌
This is my go-to when I’m heading into the city and don’t want to deal with buying food somewhere inevitably expensive. Grab a sub at MB & hop on the T
Jim's Deli in Brighton is fantastic. Great portion sizes and reasonable price.
Yeah well you missed the sarcasm part
I do not go much in for ethnic food but Monica's in the North End is a good sandwich neverthless!
Keep em in business tho
Sorry friend. I clearly missed the sarcasm, with the response only being the name of a business. I'd recommend a wink or maybe ellipses next time. It helps show the sarcasm.
Brookline Spa!
Also has locations on State Street, near south station, and in the seaport. Probably the best deal in town honestly. $13 for a massive large sub that is really 2 meal's-worth.
They sling em at Skampa. Hot Box at Bow Market in Union Square is also nearby and pretty good too.
Oggi in Harvard Square is quite good. It's mostly take-out, but you can sit down. I personally like their tuna wrap, but they have a huge selection of sandwiches - some of which may or may not be widely available. One day, they had a smoked chicken wrap, which was great.

They have a fairly loyal clientele (I'm one), which probably speaks to the quality and pricing.
Cheap? Most of their “smalls” (not small) are $15 before tax just fyi
Greco halloumi pita
hell ya to the north shit is like 11-16 min
Monicas is wicked damn good but its 22$ and like 3 sammiches in 1
Wish there was different sizes
Cambridge Deli and Grill near Central is my go to. Love that place
They have some smalls under $15!
East Arlington - Anthony's East Side Deli is fine sandwich shop. No frills solid grinder.
And often have UTZ Caroline Style BBQ chips - if you know you know. BBQ and Salt & Vinegar Chips had a baby it’s glorious.
Gimme those cheap smallsss
They have small and large options. Small is legit half the size
Domenic’s in Waltham. Some of the bigger hot meat subs will be $15/6 pre tax but a bunch for $11/12. Mediterranean tuna is my fave
Lamberts downtown, Brookline Spa, Meridian Market in East Boston
When did they add that Last fall was last time i went and they only had the regular 18-20$
Would go wicked more often if i could get a half
P and K deli in Somerville. Not super cheap but under $15. Best Italian sub
Just FYI Marketbasket makes an awesome cheeseburger with fries for $3.99, and large subs for $6! Can't beat that.
I’ve gotten Monica’s like once a week for ehh sevenish years hahah my Sunday comfort meal. It’s been there. I’m not sure why they don’t really advertise it, I guess I never noticed they didn’t. But it’s there! Maybe they like to keep it as an in-the-know thing? No idea
MaMagoo's is bomb !
D'Agostinos in Arlington. Italian or meatball sub. Like $10-11 w/tax incl. so frickin good
Ya its not on the menu whenever i go i just say the sub name.
But damn you just blew my mind lmao
Thanks
Its only about 1.5 miles from there to downtown.
Brahhh , Al’s …..
$15 is still a high cap for sandwiches. Better goal would be $10
Bahn mi at Ba Le Savin Hill Dorchester
And Lambert's on Morrissey in Dorchester!
Gene’s is absolutely amazing. Cumin lamb hand pulled noodles are the best.
All Star Sandwich Bar in Inman Square is great
I know every time my husband grabs lunch there. Literally sweats it out his pores by the time he’s home He loves the place.
If you are willing to stretch your definition of a sandwich to a coxinha (a manioc ball stuffed with chicken and then deep fried), then Oliveira Deli and Market in Brighton off Oak Square has softball size ones for around $5. Get two of those and a cold can of Guaraná Antártida for about $12 total.
They also apparently do some good sandwiches, but I've never gotten anything except the coxinhas due to their deliciousness and being a bit set in my ways.
It’s worth my wife’s judgement and my own shame.
What's north shore beef?
All star sandwich in Inman although Davis Fresh Pasta im Davis is the head above winner
Al’s
Dagostinos
Came here to make sure someone mentioned Dave’s Fresh Pasta, but Pemberton Mkt. is closer to me and not too shabby.
So glad one is opening in Malden.
Jersey Mike’s
Do they deliver? That looks awesome but their $12.15 sandwich on their website is $16.50 on any of the delivery apps lol.
It says they deliver on the site but the page is blank /shrug
yes!! the siu mai and beef are my favorites. they also have solid vegetarian options
the best🔥🔥
La positiva in Jugos Back Bay was only $9 filling breakfast sandwhich
Code 10 south end
Its the most unhealthy, messiest, most delicious sandwich you’ll ever have.
I lived on 163 in my 30’s. So good. I once drove to 163 to get 2 subs while living in Allston. Parked in front of a fire hydrant for the 4 minutes it took me to get a cold cut combo and a beef sando for $13 total. Came out to a $100 parking ticket…
…still the best sandwiches for $56.50 each I’ve ever spent.
Ideal
Bricco deli in the north end. Down an alley
Best Italian sandwich at Monica's.
https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/x4h6m3/comment/imx51u5/?context=3
The cubano there is amazing.
Tortas at La Victoria in Arlington
The roasted eggplant balsamic with fresh mozz and basil is super as well
I also love that you can buy 3 feet of the French bread they use for $3 to make your own sandwiches. Very clutch but also funny walking down the street with that.
Banh mi ba le in Dorchester. Best sandwich around and its like $7. Blows any other local banh mi spot away

Bacon sandwich at Flour. I think it runs $13 or so.
