Me and my friend are both 19, from Texas, and trying to live in Boston over the summer. We need jobs in order to sublease, but we need Boston address in order to apply… it’s just been really difficult for to find anything. We’re really just looking for a summer service job, bare minimum. Doesn’t need to be fancy, but all the job hiring sites aren’t helpful either. I’m sure the fact that were applying from across the country doesn’t help either. I was just wondering if anyone in this subreddit had ever encountered a similar issue, or if there was any advice at all. Thanks :)

Are you tied to Boston? You could go to Maine (or one of the coastal towns) and make major $$$$ with low-cost housing usually available. Also recommend stopping into restaurants during the mid-afternoon, between shifts. Lots of opportunities! Good luck - a fellow Texan

Anything related to the tourist industry. There are a ton of jobs. Some places can't open the hours they want to because of labor shortages. Also, summer camps.

I can’t speak much on the living situation other than I would look on Facebook. The one time I had lived with random roommates that’s where I found it. I won’t lie, it’ll likely be hard to find a low wage job and afford a place for both of you while having spending money to enjoy the city. You’ll likely have to look a bit outside (try Watertown, Everett, Brighton).

As for work. If you have any experience working with kids I strongly suggest looking for a town/city job working at a camp. You’ll meet a lot of people, you’ll be outside, get exercise, and really get acclimated to a natural sense of community. I ran a camp 6-7 years ago and pay was around 15-16 a hour for high schoolers without experience. I imagine it’s even higher now and given you’re 19 it opens you up for a higher position.

Literally thousands. Hotels, bars, restaurants, rental agencies, cleaners, etc etc. The catering industry will be begging for folks and it’s great money. Take your pick!

Upwork - if you can edit office documents you can work anyplace you want
