I can't tell from the photo---what is the approximate diameter?

That’s why they didn’t fix the elevators in the parking garage!

With that many players, this game of Terraforming Mars is going to last forever.

What I was told was that the existing elevator didn't use a standard counterweight system like every other elevator you know of. Instead, it used a hydraulic piston system that was fundamentally unreliable. They can't reasonably repair the hydraulic system anymore and need to gut the thing.

It hasn't been anywhere near a year, no. Less than half a year since it was permanently closed, rather than just under constant repairs.

That said, I'd be really curious to know your estimates for how long it should take to rebuild an entire elevator shaft in a space constrained area.

Museum of science is so cool. I moved away from Boston as an adult to a city that doesn't invest in itself in any way shape or form. The MOS had such an enormous impact on me as a kid I'm sad my city doesn't have one.

That’s super cool! I wish I had anything else to add… but I can’t wait to see it in person.

Heresy, I know, but I find Mystic Aquarium in CT to be a much better experience than the one in Boston. I’ve always chalked it up to the fact that they have more square footage so can do more.

Coolbeans. This is on my summer to do list with my daughter before she starts high school. We haven't been since 2019.

Y’all, as another New Englander who lived in Georgia: if you haven’t been in the GA aquarium ballroom, it’s a MUST! Huge walls looking into the salt water and the beluga whale tanks with almost nobody to be in the way even at a full party. Best. I did love the penguin habitat at NE aquarium more but otherwise, eh.

Are they done with renovations yet? I’m kind of waiting to take my daughter back for when they’re finished.

They’re constantly innovating and creating new exhibits and experiences. Currently the parking garage elevator is out of order and won’t be up and running until fall. Other than that, all the infrastructure of the MOS is functioning. The most recent renovation to the entrance hall and lobby was completed a couple years ago. You should visit the museum with your daughter.

We're overdue for a Globe article about a middle schooler "discovering" the faulty proof in the Mathematic exhibit, aren't we?
