Nothing about the population growth of Canadian geese in urban areas is natural

Hmm almost like they depend on green spaces like this one that we are wasting town resources trying to deny them.

*they rely on green spaces with a lack of natural predators & artificially trimmed grass.

Stop acting like they're native to the esplanade lmao

Yeah they were definitely here before the Europeans so idk what you mean. And yes they benefit from a green space, why not try tolerance instead of purging an animal that isn't dangerous at all.

I suppose we should also just let pigeons run the Porter Sq T station too then

I would argue that people avoiding public green spaces because they're gross is bad for the environment in a long-term way. If nobody uses the park, then one day it'll become a parking lot or office building.

This is about the most environmentally friendly way to solve the problem.

Or it teaches the opposite of coexistence. Played on fields with geese shit all my fuckin life, these people can't even go outside for fear of a little bit? Not to mention that dog is going to be shitting outside and stepping in dog shit even once is more likely to ruin your shoes than walking through a whole field of geese since they are carnivores.

I highly doubt a working dog specifically trained for goose control will be pooping in the fields willy nilly, and that the Department of Public Works and Parks supervisor won't clean up after their dog.
