Being on a motorcycle you really notice how many people are on their phone and distracted. Only the thinking goes from “I hope this person doesn’t hit me and bangup my car” to “I hope this person doesn’t veer into me and end my life.”

Interesting take you have there. It’s about to be riding season so don’t put any bad omens out there alright? Don’t be a paranoid Karen.

I've been around long enough just as a commuter to see two serious wrecks with my own eyes, had one friend killed when he hit an animal crossing the road, and have another close acquaintance whose legs were seriously maimed (and yet he is still an avid bike enthusiast). It's not paranoia; it's pattern recognition!
dontbeapile t1_jecrh6u wrote
Understandable and I’m sorry for your friends worst case scenario outcomes. Neither deserved that but the rest of us are gonna assume the risk and ride on. Please watch for us and bicyclists on the road this spring/summer

I hear you. My cousin died getting hit by a truck on his dirt bike. That was in 2000. In 2022 my uncle, father of my aforementioned cousin, was killed on his motorcycle by a woman cutting him off in her car.
If I ever have kids they’re never going near a two wheeled vehicle with an engine.

I have a buddy who was a huge motorcycle guy. It was his favorite activity and he counted down the days until spring so he could ride again. He put his bike up for sale the day he learned his wife was pregnant. I have always respected him for that.

Riding a motorcycle is an objectively dangerous activity. It's not paranoia, it is a fact.

Article makes it sound like the Jeep driver pulled out of the parking lot and killed this guy. Ride safe out there folks, especially early in the season when drivers aren’t looking for you and/or everyone is on their phones anyway.

yeah, not familiar with the area, but the article definitely SOUNDS like it was the jeep's fault. mentions the motor cycle was on the road going one direction, then the jeep came out of a parking lot and tried to go the other direction.
unless there's something not mentioned in the article like the bike running a stop sign/red light, fault looks pretty clear cut.

Clark Grant was killed yesterday evening, March 29. Link from the Globe: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/03/30/metro/clark-grant-indicted-fraud-alongside-activist-wife-monica-cannon-grant-killed-motorcycle-crash/
And text from the OP Boston.com link:
> Clark Grant, 39, of Taunton, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, Easton Police Chief Keith Boone said in a press release on Thursday.
> Grant and his wife, who formerly managed the now-defunct Violence In Boston nonprofit, were indicted on federal fraud charges a year ago, as prosecutors alleged they defrauded donors of the organization, committed unemployment fraud, and lied to a mortgage lender.
> Chris Malcolm, an attorney representing Cannon-Grant, released a statement on the crash Thursday:
> “We are horrified and deeply saddened by the loss this great man. He will be forever missed. Monica heard from him as he left work yesterday and was about to head home on his motorcycle. They told each other I love you. That was their last contact."
> Upon arrival, authorities found a motorcyclist, later identified as Grant, lying in the road and “suffering from traumatic injuries,” Boone said in the news release.
> An officer performed CPR on Grant along with an unnamed passerby until Easton Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene, Boone said.
> Grant then received medical treatment from firefighters before he was brought to the Brockton hospital, where he died, Boone said.
> A preliminary investigation indicated Clark was traveling southbound on Turnpike Street on a Honda motorcycle before the crash, according to Boone.
> The driver of the Jeep was identified by Boone as a 40-year-old Brockton resident. A 9-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle at the time, Boone said.
> Both individuals were not injured in the crash, he said.
