I live along the pike and I have to pick someone up from the airport tomorrow. With Sumner Tunnel closed it was a shitshow picking them up - 70 minutes to get to Fenway.

Is there a better way? Is the silver line any better?

If they need to go to Fenway they should go Massport Shuttle > Blue > Green.

But Sunday is even more of a shitshow than a Saturday in the TWT so good luck.

If you live along the Pike, why are you taking the Sumner over the Ted Williams tunnel?

I don’t but it snarls traffic back up to departures

Take the Silver Line to South Station and tell whoever is picking you up to pick you up at South Station. You can easily get onto the pike from there.

Do the silver line busses get out easier?

They don't. And unfortunately the shuttle to the blue line gets caught up in the same traffic when it backs up into the terminals (if traffic isn't backed that far up, the blue line will be the fastest transit option off the airport).

I've given up on trying to take the T home from the airport on weekends. Between the tunnel shutdown and the general state of the T right now, a $40 Uber is worth it.

You can actually walk to the Blue Line from terminal E. Any other terminal, walk through the garage to get to E then out the front door. Turn right. Follow the sidewalk and pedestrian detour signs. It's under a mile and faster than the shuttle on weekends. If in doubt, Apple and Google maps will give you the walking route.

Where along the pike?

You could go have them take Logan Express to Framingham, or have them take Logan Express to Woburn and pick them up there. (Yes, it’s a bit of a drive from the Pike - but you totally miss all the construction. There’s also a variety of fast food and reasonable restaurants if they want food after their flight.)

Edit - even if the bus hits some traffic, so what - it’s the bus, you’re still not driving in it.

Take 1A to 145 East, make the U turn a few hundred feet in and continue on 16 West all the way to Wellington. Take 28 South and stay on it til Leverett Circle, and take Storrow to Fenway.

Have them meet you at the blue line's terminus.

You don't need the Sumner, follow the signs on the Masspike through the Ted Williams. You may need some patience with the traffic.
