Typical MA virtue signaling law without a plan to have an easy to use alternative readily available.

Yeah, I think we're going to see mattresses just piling up places.

Incinerate them. If we're not going to stop buying stuff, we should come to grips with the effects of burning it later on.

Idk, seems like the city may still provide this going forward. Link

I'm all for recycling, but when it comes to anything potentially contaminated with bedbugs- just incinerate everything.

Recycled mattresses don't become other mattresses; no part of them is going to be used in a way any bug would survive.

It’s on the model of tv and electronics disposal. Not in the ordinary trash, you have to call a special number and tell them about and a date is arranged for pickup. You pay, city pays? Depends on the contract. Usually it’s an in your taxes thing.

If you use city trash collection, it will be taken free as recycling. If your living situation uses a private dumpster company, I don’t think the city will take it (for free).

Edited: I thought this was the Somerville subreddit, I’m not sure about Boston.

Anyone ever used pure latex foam mattresses? The diy option is the way to go. You can just swap out layers when they get old. This stuff is claimed to last much longer and so far I think I agree.

I guess you will start seeing them on the roadside. People don't care they will just dump them at night

Imagine your roommate leaves, owing you rent, and you can't throw out his bedbug infested mattress.

It's time we got these assault bedding off the street. (Yeah I know downvote me. It's the first thing that came to mind)
