hi!! I just moved to the Waltham area & this is going to be my first time using the MBTA. I'm trying to get to the house of blues & based on my research I believe I would take the commuter rail from Waltham to Boston North station, and then from the North station take the C Kenmore/Green line and then repeat once I'm going back home? does that seem accurate? also, would the $10 commuter rail weekend ticket work for this route?

thank you from a very confused newbie!!!!

Commuter Rail can be complicated with infrequent timetables on nights & weekends.

Instead, just use the bus system.

Take the 70 Bus to Watertown Yard.
From here, take the 57 Bus (comes every 8-10 minutes) to Kenmore Square. Watertown Yard and Kenmore are terminal stops, so you don't even need to worry about which direction it goes.
Walk 5 minutes.

It'll cost $1.70 to and from HOB. Bring headphones, it takes about an hour.

thank you so much!!! I was averted to using the bus since it seems more confusing to me, but your advice makes sense, I'm looking into that route right now. if I don't have cash, do I need to get a CharlieCard?

Yeah, you'll need a CharlieCard. You can get one from one of these locations in Waltham, you don't need to go to the "CharlieCard Store" downtown or anything - that 7-Eleven will do. Load up like $20, and then 'tap to pay' when going on a bus or subway. It's that easy.

They're soon piloting ApplePay or Credit Card Tap & Pay for the T, so hopefully that'll be standard next year or the year after.

The 57 is super frequent, so you won’t get stranded.

I recommend using google maps. I see that option, or two busses (61/70 and 57) as possibilities.

Awolnation tomorrow night? Ill be there. I work at the venue.

I know from the replies it looks like you'll most likely be taking the Bus... just one thing to remember for yourself is that the Kenmore Bus area could be confusing. They're shutting down the D Line Branch starting at Kenmore, and They'll be using Bus service to replace the train for that branch. You should be able to pick up the Bus going back to the Waltham Yard at its normal location in Kennore Square, however, depending on certain factors which no one can plan for, that may or may not be the case tomorrow night.. Just as a heads up for you.

Also... in your planning for the Commuter Rail route and Green Line, you can go on Any Green Line train Except the E Line Trains (Heath Street), which break off after copley Square. Every other line on the Green Line split apart in different directions once they get to Kenmore Square, which is where you would get off.

I would personally park at the alewife parking lot, take the red line to park st, and then green line to Kenmore
