Haha, good one MBTA! I thought the trains would be running smooth and fast after 30 days of shutdown. You even said the slow zones would only be there for one week. Ha! You sure got me! Hahaha!!! 🤪

Why was traffic EXTRA bad today? I've only been driving my commute for about the last month since the T shutdown but I've never seen every intersection backed up completely from sullivan square to storrow, commute took an hour compared to the usual 30-35min

Because we need to start taking away licenses from some of the clowns who drive here

Not only was it extra bad...it was extra bad until after 730. I've never seen anything like it but admittedly I typically take public transportation so maybe this is the new normal...

Suggestions for things to do for seniors in Boston? I have parents staying for a while who I am worried are getting bored (and on my case). They don't have serious mobility issues, but aren't interested in museums, music, casinos, restaurants or the outdoors. I'm running out of apple orchards and farmers markets. Please help.

Jesus, what are they interested in??

Ugh, it's only been cable news and click-baity 5-minute life/food hacks on facebook. I'm going insane. They're so boring.

Haymarket discount veggie market, walk around the North End but not spend money, ferry to and from East Boston? People watch and judge at local colleges?

What about a local cooking class or another class at a craft store? There might be something at the one of the adult education centers.

Other than the Charles + the Harbor (we are a Port City) where do we go kayaking?

Any good Ponds or other rivers to explore that would be pretty easy in/out?

Are you looking in only Boston proper? Or the surrounding area too?

I had a season pass to Paddle Boston last year and it was great. They have a number of locations all around the Boston area. You can also launch from their sites with your own kayak.

When are y’all getting your flu shot and covid booster? Getting the flu one next week… the other probably mid November?

wobwobwob42 t1_is58y22 wrote

Got both the second week it was out. Walked into CVS, got the shots and a coupon for like $5.

Already done both, at the same time, in the same arm. Felt meh for about 12 hours and the injection site itched for another 48.

I got both last Wednesday

Same time? How was that? Idk what it was but last year’s flu shot wrecked me for two days straight. Ooof.

bakingandengineering t1_is5a87l wrote

I got both at the same time too. Nothing really happened to me other than an incredibly sore arm.

InnieHelena t1_is77vws wrote

Sore arm gang: I’ve found moving my arm around a lot (doing circles and things) helps reduce the soreness after getting vaccines. I got my second booster about a month ago and my flu shot last week, no real soreness. YMMV

wobwobwob42 t1_is5jdpc wrote

I got both in the same arm and had no side effects at all. Wasn't even sore.

Inevitable-Cook-4929 t1_is5evgk wrote

I got mine at CVS and they did one shot in each arm. Luckily I don’t get any major side effects other than sore arms. Maybe some fatigue, but that can be blamed on other things lol

Rumezi t1_is7ghzd wrote

Got them both in the same arm. I had a headache the next day and my arm hurt for a couple days after, but other than that no major side effects.

Got my COVID booster last weekend - I had COVID in July so this put me right at the three months post-infection when they say you should get it. Tried to get it at Walgreens a few days prior and they cancelled on me due to staffing issues, but I booked at a different Walgreens and had no trouble. Had a surprising lack of side effects, though that could be from switching from Moderna to Pfizer. Flu shot, I figured I'd get it if they offered it to me when I was getting my COVID shot, and they didn't, so I'll be looking into my work clinic or other pharmacies in the hopes of getting it before the end of the month.

dyslexicbunny t1_is7d2jp wrote

Flu is at a work clinic next week.

Already got the booster. Had my physical and asked if it was available. I had COVID two months before but am traveling now so I didn't want to wait. Hopefully I don't have any issues from that as I've read it might not have been as effective.

3

adaquestionade t1_is5kkk5 wrote

I got both already but the flu shot was unplanned. I'm at a higher risk for bad COVID effects so I jumped on the booster as soon as I could (late September).

I got my flu shot a week ago when I visited my PCP, felt a bit sluggish for a day or so afterwards but I was also coming off a camping weekend so hard to say.

I got my flu + booster on the same day in October 2021 and that fucked me up good for a day or so.

The Appalachian Mountain Club Boston also has a skiing committee.

I've done non-skiing (white water rafting, hiking, kayaking, camping, etc) weekend trips with both groups and there were always carpools arranged.

Any Stromae fans here? With him releasing a new album this year he will be coming to Boston as part of his tour. Reached out to friends and a lot don't know him. Is anyone attending? Will still go regardless but thought it would be a cool way to meet new people.
