I'm in the Cambridgeport Trader Joe's / Microcenter parking lot and for the past half hour I've heard a periodic low quick "Boop" sound echo around the neighborhood. So curious about the source!

Might be. I know Braintree Police have these really loud and bassy sonic boom type things, you can feel it pulse your car as they drive by. Wild tech.

they use them for hearing impaired people, but they also work for people who have their car stereos up too loud to hear normal sirens (but the origins purpose was for the hearing impaired)
