I’m about to accept a job offer in your beautiful city, and I’ll be moving right after the new year. I’ve seen a few of these threads in other cities and they always have interesting conversations develop. So, Redditors of Boston, how much do you pay for rent?

I have the same mortgage in Burlington MA, but we don't have gas and need oil. It was BRUTAL last year, at least 600-700 a month just for heat. Easily 4000 a month with utilities.

I pay $1800 mortgage (which includes taxes and insurance) for a 3 BR single family house in Roslindale. My next door neighbors pay more than that in rent for a 2 BR half of a duplex.

That’s a bummer. I’m thankful we have city water/sewer and natural gas lines here in Quincy. And rubbish pickup is included in our property taxes.

Why would you post a mortgage? It’s irrelevant to their question. It’s okay to sit them out when they don’t apply.

For real, it’s like they can’t handle not being the center of conversation when it is literally not applicable to the question and likely can’t even be replicated right now without an insane down payment or rate buy down.

I'm in this comment and I don't like it (2995 rent, 250 for garage, 55 internet). I'm starting to wonder if it worth it to go back to dumpy apartments without AC and washer / dryer just to save. But even most of those are going for 2500 around Davis / Porter.

Going to move out of a $1550 (it was $1200 when I took it) tiny one bed/one bath/ in E. Boston. New Porch (to be in compliance with fire codes - 2nd egress), central air, no laundry, street parking, no dishwasher, but we DO have paper thin walls. Landlord posted it with a substantial rent increase. Showed it to one person, they took it.
