also dorchester is not much more “city life” than quincy. in most other cities quincy would be a neighborhood of boston

Its a quick and easy train ride to the city, and the Chinatown area around Wollaston has GREAT food

Plenty of great spots for food & drink in Quincy Center. Start with a the beer garden at Kilroy Square tomorrow evening and go from there.

Or walk to the Wollaston T (assuming that's where you are), hop on the RL and be downtown in 20 mins.

Trust me, you can get a lot more suburban than Quincy!

Dorchester is not really close to BU anyway and it's a very residential neighborhood that isn't really a "city life" kind of feel. Quincy is right next to Dorchester. Hop one the red line if you want to go into the city.

You’re in a good spot. Lived 20+ years in Dorchester and moved to Quincy. You have the best of both worlds as many have mentioned. 15 minutes to downtown on the highway, if no traffic. Quieter and less crammed in than Dot. Way less trashy. Living in Quincy doesn’t chain you to it in your spare time, you can go anywhere.

Not an answer to your question, but if you want to live closer, BU rents apartments to faculty and staff. Idk if this is still the case, but 10 years ago they were well below market rate.
