There is at least one Nova Scotian tree that joins us each year. Does that count?

Probably. Three of my grandparents came down from there. Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton. Many came down during the depression. There’s a Canadian American Club in Watertown that has music nights and other activities. I’m sure you could meet up with some fellow Nova Scotians there.

My great great grandfather came down from Nova Scotia but I'm not aware of any nova scotians from these days. It's a big city I'm sure there's a few

A few years ago we were visiting Nova Scotia and went out to see some art studios. One older artist, upon finding out we were from Massachusetts, exclaimed "Oh! my family is from Haverhill!" The fact that he pronounced it correctly drove the point home. We asked him when his family moved to Nova Scotia, expecting him to say that his parents immigrated or that he had aunts and uncles still living there, or something.

No, his answer to "when did your family move" was "1783." They were Tories fleeing the Revolution. So when he and some friends visited Boston not long before our trip to NS, they gave a quiet "Three Cheers for King George!"

But he still considered himself "to be from Haverhill."

My mother's side of the family came from Nova Scotia and PEI around 1900. There was a large community from Nova Scotia and PEI in Quincy, originally to work in the granite quarries and then later at the Fore River Ship Yard. Most of the immigration stopped around World War II. I don't think they were too sentimental about Nova Scotia back then, though. From what I heard it was kind of a grim place without a lot of economic opportunity.
