Hello friends of Reddit! my gf and I are going up to Boston for the weekend and would like some hotel recommendations! we’re both mid 20s so being central to bars/restaurants is probably the biggest thing. I’d prefer to just be able to walk to places as I don’t know the area, but if we have to uber that’s fine we’re not very picky! any recommendations help, thank you!!

This is what I do. Google hotels with your dates and it does a nice little overlay of hotels on a map with prices. Look at photos. Book the one that is the best combo of niceness, location, price. Done. Asking us without a budget or location is not going to illicit many useful responses.

I did that but it doesn’t give you a very good idea of things to do in the surrounding area /:

Fwiw - if you are able bodied all of Boston downtown is highly accessible. Mass Ave (back bay) to the common is like 25 minutes. Common to Faneuil is like a 15 minute walk. Faneuil to the north end is 5 minutes. Faneuil to the garden is 15 minutes.

It’s extremely walkable and the T also can speed things up between sites.

It does. It actually gives you the most accurate listing of what is in the area when you use google maps. There is even a categorical search option labeled “things to do”

The Bostonian and the Canopy hotel are in a pretty centralized location- 5 minute or so walk to the garden. Next to Fanueil hall, north end, Public market, aquarium area.

The Revolution Hotel.

It's right downtown in a very nice area. It's within walking distance of South End, Back Bay, Downtown Crossing, Chinatown, etc. It's close to the train lines. It's about as good of a location as you can get.

It's relatively cheap because the rooms are about 115 sq ft and don't have bathrooms in the room. Instead, you have to walk down the hall to a shared wash room. The shared wash rooms are quite nice, and you get your own individual bathroom in the wash room (door that locks, toilet, sink, shower, towels, etc).

Really can't go wrong with anywhere between Fenway and the North End. The entire area is safe and easy to get around by walking/T/Uber with plenty of restaurants and bars. I would recommend going to the Gardner Museum and walking the freedom trail.

If you stay in the realm of TD garden you will have a plethora of options for bars.. it will cost you though. Definitely recommend the north end for dinner one night if you stay in that area.

Sam Adams is a national brand. Most brewery tours are kind of the same. For tourists, I understand why someone would want to visit the more famous brewery.

oh my bad, i will refrain from suggesting lesser-known local options in favor of shitty national chains that tourists are more likely to have heard of. OP: make sure to visit our amazing local coffeehouse, "dunkin donuts."

If you want to be just above the garden I would recommend Citizen M, it’s fairly nice for a new hotel!
