This year's tree is from Christmas Island in Nova Scotia, which is a really cool coincidence (they're chose from all over in the province, they have very exacting tree criteria).

I didn't even know about this. I gotta go!!! I need to look up the details.

That’s a different tree.

It’s actually two different trees. However, the Nova Scotia tree was at the Pru until they moved to the Common in 2002

Yeah, wish they would put it in a better location. It kind of gets 'lost' on the common - not very prominent. (And the city doesn't do the best job decoration - it's not surprising the original poster thought the Quincy market tree was the NS tree - it's decorated much better and highly visible)
