I went to China House on Hanover St. in the North End and Dan who runs the counter informed me they are closing after today so his family can retire :( this has been my favorite place since moving here and crosses all the boxes: cheap, good food, great service and family run. He said someone is buying the space and doing something new in January 2023. Hoping it’s not going to be a Tatte or some shit

That was my favorite too! On the other hand I'm glad someone actually still gets to retire and not just work until they die.

Damn, that is unfortunate. Probably going to end up being a bank branch or Italian restaurant.

NO.

As someone who lives in the North End this was one of 3 places I could eat on the regular that wasnt overpriced mediocre italian food. $10 gave you so much food!

Now it's down to just Tenoch and Paulies

Tell me about it. I live in the North End too and this was by far my most visited for takeout. Now there is only Billy Tse for Chinese which is much more expensive. Other than that Bovas hot food isn’t that bad imo and Dinos Paulis are great for subs but losing china house is devastating for the neighborhood

I’m really concerned reading about all these businesses closing right before the holidays

Damn. That was my go to spot for Chinese food. Do you know if for sure his last day was yesterday? I know they’re closed normally on Wednesday but if they stay open for the week I’d love to have one last chicken finger and lo mein meal
