Trading the little guy in was easily the worst decision of my adult life. It needed a clutch replacement and I had gotten tired of commuting on 93, but it all feels so shortsighted now.

Edit: if you're the owner and you're just as attached to it as me, hearing that would make me nearly as happy as getting it back.

If you still have the VIN you could get a carfax, if they’ve had service at a reporting shop you could do some sleuthing.
Prepare for everyone you encounter to be weirded out by it though. :v

Haha yeah I did get the CARFAX to see if some other dealer is selling it. But that’s as far as I’ll go sleuthing wise. Hoping whoever owns it reaches out rather than me finding them. It's weird and I'm not ashamed of that, but I'm not going to go bothering people with my weirdness.

I've googled my VINs from my old cars. One of my cars got in a crash and is sitting in some junkyard in Texas with accompanying picture. This was like less than a year after trading it in.

I hope you find it.

I traded in my favorite car ever in July, and I didn't even get a good trade in on it. I regret it every day too.

Car people understand these things lol

I had a 2004 H6 Subaru Outback sedan. It was a beast. High trim level with leather seats, remote start, and that 6 cylinder was great on the highway. It was leaking oil and transmission fluid though and labor was going to be more than the car was worth. Oh and it took 93, and I way paying over $5/gal for probably 20mpg if I was lucky.

I got a 2017 Impreza hatchback. It's the 4 cylinder and even though it's still a Subaru it's a way different driving experience. More sporty and better transmission, but the 6 cylinder power is missed.

Back then that car probably got out on a truck to an auction house and sold to a different dealer.

That’s what I thought, but I bought the CARFAX. It was last listed for sale by the dealer I sold it to (Boch Norwood) in August 2018. No record since.

My favorite two cars of all time were a pair of manual Dodge Omni’s I owned. (I bought the second when the first one died).

They were the cosmic predecessor to the Honda Fit.

So fun to drive. Like a sporty go-kart. Great mileage too.

I feel your pain.

Had never heard of the Omni, but I see the cosmic resemblance! Thanks for your sympathy.

Pretty sure this is what Calvin's mom drove, in Calvin and Hobbes, and definitely what my mom drove, in a similarly airborne fashion in the 80's.

And sad to say, Honda stopped selling Fits in the US. I believe they are sold in other countries, maybe with a different name.

WHAT. Oh, that is awful news. Guess I'm gonna have to be careful with mine. (I have a 2012 as well that I'm very attached too).

They really are incredibly practical cars. I doubt I'll be able to get the same features in a car that small ever again.

I had a Mitsubishi Evo MR and a few other really fast cars, got into a bunch of trouble, decided to get a Fit Sport to slow down (yet still have fun).

That Fit was better than all the other cars I've ever owned. It's was peppy and tossable and I didn't care if anyone dinged it... AND, once the seats were down, it was actually able to haul quite a bit!

Mine was Blaze Orange, but I feel you on wanting it back. I want to get one again myself!

I saw a blaze orange in my search - it's a cutie! I'll see if I can find the link. From what I recall, price wasn't bad for the mileage.

Edit: nvm, price isn't great but this little guy is a stunner

Every once in a while* I see an old '81 Datsun 310 GX in brown and think "I should buy it and restore it. That car did me right as a kid.

As one still rocking their 08 Honda fit sport, literally my first car, I feel you! The day she says I will shed a tear. Best of luck!

Idk if it's still the case but previously Carfax had a sort of premium membership you could buy into and see more information. Go find your baby.

Current Fit Sport w/manual owner, just wanted to say best of luck in your search and hope it pops up. Id definitely recommend the third gen Fits if you happen to go the regular used car route, but I know it won't have that same feel as your old one.
