greater boston area or south shore; what is the best ice skating rink that has public skate times available?

looking for something a little bit more interesting/fun than a traditional indoor hockey rink. maybe something outside, or a rink that includes festive decor, etc.

any suggestions are appreciated!

The Jack Kirrane rink at Lars Anderson Park. It's outdoors and on the top of a hill with decent views of Cambridge. When it's snowing at nighttime it's one of the most beautiful places to be in Boston.

Public skating at the Skating Club of Boston (https://scboston.org/public-skating/). On Saturdays, you get to skate in the Performance Center. Fun fact, the first quad axel in figure skating Grand Prix history was just landed in the Performance Center this year. If you get hungry, the Club also has a café with warm foods.

Steriti rink in the North End is my go-to. It’s an indoor rink but it’s free if you bring skates and not too crowded. Best part is you can go walk around the North End afterwards and Bova’s is right next to it.

Otherwise the rink at the Common is a classic but gets crowded.

I would look up random ponds near roads on google maps and drive out. Winter pond near woburn for example is a popular pond skating spot. Only go if the snow is already cleared/people are skating.

Best part of the Steriti is that is has floor-to-ceiling windows around some of it. Though, every time I walk by that place is closed…
