Title pretty much says it. I’m still newish here and want to make up for lost time by taking a bumble date on the worst possible Boston Valentine’s date.

I still want suggestions that are like actual dates tho - so like where are those incredibly cheesy, “I would never go there” options??

Easy. Start off at Gov't Center and walk down to the North End - this will take you through a couple great wind tunnels in the blistering cold. Have a late lunch/early dinner at La Famiglia Spagnuolo's. This way you're probably timing it so that your date is starving, and you're taking them to one of the lowest rated restaurants in the state to boot. Suggest the Aquarium as an after-meal activity, but then refuse to enter it and just look at the seals outside. Bonus points if you can get a water taxi to drive you around in the frigid wastes of the harbor afterwards.

Oh the free seals rock when it's more than 20 degrees out, I watch them for 5 minutes every day on my way home from work

Entire freedom trail this Saturday in the cold but refuse to go inside any of the stops.

Ooh this is a great starting suggestion! It’s supposed to be a bit chilly Saturday, right?

Any “romantic” restaurant, on Valentines Day specifically (preferably 7:00), that requires a credit card to book, but then rushes you out the door in 1hr 26m. Bonus if the tables are spaced 1 foot away from each other and they sell you an overpriced bottle of wine that you can’t possibly finish before they’re handing you your coat and showing you the door.

After, stand awkwardly outside of the restaurant with no backup plan. (Or go to Lucky’s or Silvertones or Anchovies afterward and laugh about your shitty dinner, and probably end up truly bonding with your date over cheap whiskey gingers. But that’s actually not a bad idea so don’t do that. Stick with awkward.)

There’s one still open at Brigham Circle in Mission Hill. That would be an excellent sad/bad place to go for Valentine’s Day.

Bruins game, and start the evening at Sullie's Tap. Total guy night out in Boston, zero romance.
