Since when does the redline just not stop at Porter or Davis? Been riding the red line for years and it just went straight from Harvard to Alewife this evening. Is this a normal thing?

This occasionally happens, usually when there have been major delays and a bunch of trains are waiting to move.

Yep. Trains and busses will often run "express" routes if there is a backup of busses/trains behind the current one. It's fairly common on the Green Line going outbound when they don't load Branch manage well. Gotta love seeing tons of people waiting on the D platform at Park St and see 3 E trains go by.

I'm late to the thread but trains not stopping has made me late for work a couple of times recently. Granted I do cut it close.

Express trains, they’re a real pain if you’re not going to one of the stops they retain, or if you have headphones on, or if you’re on one of many redline cars with broken PA speakers.

Nope, no announcement. The train just went to alewife, so I stayed on and it stopped at Davis and Porter on the way inbound.

That doesn’t sound right. Did you have headphones on and miss it? Not trying to doubt you, but I’ve never ever in all my years heard of that happening without an announcement. I’m assuming other people on the car were confused/pissed?

Didn’t have headphones on but I guess I could’ve just zoned out or something, person I was with didn’t hear anything either. Yeah other people were looking around but there were only a couple peeps on the train

Maybe the speakers in your car were broken or something? Sounds like it was just an express train.
